My name is Phaniraj Aenugula, but most people call me Phani. I am a third year computer science major at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I am also pursuing a minor in mathematics because of my interest in pure math and the satisfying descriptions and explantions it can provide in computer science and nature in general. Over the past years, I've made projects simply to explore the things I've learned and further apply it to practical problems to create real-world impact.
As part of a project for Blockchain at Calpoly, we created a betting website using cryptocurrency. It was built on the Ethereum blockchain using the Web3js framework and solidity contracts.
One of my first projects, Oddjob was an "Uber for chores". It allowed users to post their household tasks that they don't have time for or can't do themselves on a map. Other users can pick up the job. The app implemented a dynamic map user interface with a custom in-app messaging system.
A product of my first hackathon, SBhacks, Loconote is a simple yet fun app that lets users post their emotions along with a note on the map. Other users can see what people think around them by seeing the posts within a certain radius.
My team and I at SLOHacks created an app that finds the right song for you. Using Google's computer vision and machine learning API, we evaluate your current mood using a selfie and direct you to a song that brightens your day.
I am extremely fortunate to have an year round intership with Amazon.com. I get to work directly with other full-time engineers and develop the backend systems for many Amazon services like Alexa, Kindle, and Merch.
